Selong Belanak is a 1-kilometer crescent bay on Lombok's south coast, known for beginner-friendly waves and soft white sand. The water shifts from emerald to turquoise to deep blue—clean enough for swimming over a sandy 15-meter shelf. What sets it apart: herds of water buffalo walk the beach every morning and afternoon around 8 AM and 4-5 PM, creating iconic photo moments. Two wave zones exist here—mellow breaks in the middle and east for learners, punchier sets on the west for intermediates. The sunsets are excellent, and Selong Hill offers a viewpoint of the entire bay. Located 30-40 minutes from Lombok Airport, entrance costs IDR 5-10k depending on vehicle. Open 24/7.
