On Mount Rinjani's forested slopes, this is where you spot Ebony Leaf Monkeys—shy black langurs that stay wild and unharassed, unlike the macaques elsewhere. Morning treks (8–11 AM) work best when it's cooler and they're active in the canopy. The experience goes beyond monkey-spotting: you walk rice terraces, find hidden waterfalls, visit Sasak villages, and taste local coffee. No crowds, no commercialization. Guides are essential for safely locating these rare primates. Wear proper shoes and insect repellent.
