This traditional market in Mataram's old town (Ampenan) has been around since the 1990s and got a major renovation in 2007. Don't let the two-story exterior fool you—there are actually four floors inside selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to dried fish, spices, palm sugar, and locally made crafts. You'll find better prices here than anywhere else in West Lombok. The market also has toilets and a mosque. It's the real deal for daily necessities and local goods, not a tourist trap.
