This is a travel guide to the Gili Islands—Trawangan, Air, and Meno—three coral islands off Lombok's northwest coast. No motorized vehicles allowed; you walk, bike, or ride a cidomo (horse-drawn carriage). Sea turtles surface regularly from shore. The reefs here sit in one of Earth's most biodiverse marine zones, making diving and snorkeling exceptional. Gili Trawangan is the largest island, known for its east-coast nightlife, restaurants, and dive schools. Each island offers a different pace—choose based on whether you want energy or stillness.
