Bukit Selong sits at 1,156 meters in Sembalun Lawang, a 2 to 2.5-hour drive from Mataram. The real draw is the view: geometric patchwork agricultural fields stretching across the valley, Mount Rinjani looming in the distance, and a 360-degree mountain panorama. The walk from the parking area takes just 5 to 10 minutes through bamboo groves on a gentle path—no real hiking experience needed. Sunrise between 5:30 and 7 AM is when the valley glows. Entrance runs around IDR 10,000 to 15,000 per person. A few local warungs sell coffee and noodles at the entrance. Drone photography is welcome. The dry season (April to October) offers the clearest skies.
