Bang Rak stretches 3 kilometers along Koh Samui's northeastern coast, sandwiched between the Big Buddha Temple and Bophut Beach. The middle 1.5 kilometers is where you'll actually swim—soft white sand, clear calm water, and fewer crowds than Chaweng. The rest has resorts and villas packed in tight. You'll find budget guesthouses, family-run resorts, and an increasing number of high-end villas. Small bars and restaurants line the beach at better prices than the tourist hotspots. Dive operators, water taxis, and day-trip boats work from several piers, but it doesn't disrupt the relaxed atmosphere. The occasional plane landing at nearby Samui Airport is actually entertaining, not intrusive.
