Boracay Area GuidePuka Shell Beach, Boracay, Philippines
Boracay's wild, undeveloped northern beach β puka shells, fewer crowds, and raw beauty
Puka Shell Beach sits at the northern tip of Boracay and is the island's most natural, least developed major beach β a long arc of coarser white sand that gets its name from the naturally occurring puka shell fragments scattered throughout. The beach faces north, giving it a different light and wind exposure than White Beach. Development is minimal β a handful of simple restaurants and drink stalls rather than the resort hotels and beach clubs of the south. The water here is generally calm with good snorkelling at the rocky outcrops at each end of the bay. Puka is popular with day-trippers from the main beach stations but retains a secluded feel in the early morning and late afternoon.

questions & answers
Is it worth going to Puka Beach instead of White Beach?
Yes, especially if you're staying more than 2 days. Puka Shell Beach offers a completely different experience β more natural, quieter, and less commercialised. The sand is coarser than White Beach but the setting is more dramatic. It's best visited in the morning when day-trippers haven't arrived yet. A half-day trip combining Puka with a stop at Diniwid Beach on the way back is an excellent alternative itinerary.
How do I get to Puka Shell Beach?
Tricycles from any station can take you to Puka Shell Beach for approximately 100β200 PHP per ride. The journey from Station 2 takes about 15β20 minutes by tricycle. The road passes through the interior of the island. Some visitors rent bicycles or electric scooters to explore independently. There are no resorts at Puka Shell Beach, so it's a day trip destination.
