Visiting Boracay in December

December is Boracay in full glory — the amihan is blowing, White Beach is back to its calm, turquoise-water, powdery-sand perfection, and the island is packed for Christmas and New Year. Filipinos celebrate Christmas with genuine fervour: D'Mall is decorated, resort lobbies have Christmas trees, and the atmosphere is festive and joyful. New Year's Eve on White Beach — with fireworks over the Sibuyan Sea and parties on the sand — is one of the Philippines' best celebrations. Book everything months ahead and budget for peak prices.

travel tips

Travel Tips for December

Book the 23 December–3 January window 4–6 months ahead — beachfront properties in Station 1 and 2 sell out completely and prices are at their yearly peak.

For New Year's Eve fireworks, claim your spot on White Beach by 9 pm at the latest. The beach fills up toward midnight and the best viewing areas (in front of major resorts) are taken early.

Boracay's D'Mall is at its most festive in December — Christmas markets, live music, and the full restaurant strip in operation. Allow extra time for meals as waits are longest of the year.

common questions

FAQ — Bali in December

How crowded is Boracay at Christmas?

Very. The 22 December–2 January period is Boracay's absolute busiest stretch — the beach is wall-to-wall people, every restaurant has queues, and popular activities book out days ahead. It's a joyful, high-energy atmosphere but requires patience and advance planning. If you want quiet, book before 20 December or after 5 January.

What is Boracay like on New Year's Day?

The morning of 1 January is peaceful — the island essentially sleeps in after the New Year's Eve celebrations. By late morning, the beach recovers and the festivities continue. Accommodation prices typically remain at peak levels until around 3–5 January when the bulk of holiday visitors depart.

Is December weather good in Boracay?

Excellent. December is peak amihan season — the northeast trade winds keep White Beach calm, clear, and breezy. Rain is very rare. Sea temperatures are at a comfortable 27°C. Conditions are as good as January and February. The weather is the main reason December is peak season.
