Phu Quoc sights
Ong Lang Beach
A quieter, more natural west-coast beach north of Dương Đông, with coves of golden sand broken by rocks, shady trees, and low-key resorts. A relaxed alternative to the busier Long Beach, and a fine spot for the sunset.
About
Ông Lang Beach lies on the west coast just north of Dương Đông town, and it offers a quieter, more natural alternative to the long, busy, hotel-lined Long Beach (Bãi Trường) to the south. Rather than one continuous strip, Ông Lang is a series of small golden-sand coves separated by low rocky outcrops and shaded by trees that come close to the shore, giving it a more secluded, low-key character. It is dotted with mid-range and boutique resorts and a scattering of beach bars and restaurants, but development is lower-rise and lower-key than the main tourist strip, and stretches of sand can feel almost private outside peak times. Facing west like the rest of this coast, it is an excellent and far more relaxed place to watch the sunset, often with a cocktail at a beach bar. The water is generally calm and good for swimming in the dry season; as elsewhere on Phu Quoc's west coast, the southwest monsoon (roughly May–October) can bring rougher seas and the occasional rainy spell.
