Phuket Area GuideSurin, Phuket, Thailand

Surin, Phuket

Upscale beach with powder-soft sand and Phuket's most glamorous beach club scene

Surin Beach sits between Kamala and Bang Tao on Phuket's northwest coast and has carved out a reputation as the island's most sophisticated beach destination. The sand is notably fine and pale, the water a vivid turquoise, and the overall vibe is considerably more low-key than Patong β€” upscale rather than hectic. The Catch Beach Club and Bimi Beach Club have positioned Surin as a destination for Phuket's fashion-conscious set. Twin Palms and Manathai resort hotels add to the aspirational atmosphere. On the hill just north of Surin, the Millionaire's Mile (Millionaire Row) has some of the island's most exclusive private villa compounds with sea views.

  • Surin Beach β€” powdery pale sand and crystalline water in a refined setting
  • Twin Palms Resort β€” one of Phuket's most lauded design hotels, walking distance from the beach
  • Millionaire's Row β€” hilltop luxury villa district with panoramic Andaman Sea views

Know Before You Base Yourself in Surin

Who Surin suits best

Surin is best for travellers who want a quieter upscale beach with easier aesthetics than Patong and less resort sprawl than Bang Tao. It appeals strongly to couples and villa guests.

What to expect from the stay

The beach experience is excellent, but the wider area is smaller and calmer than Phuket's busier hubs. Surin works best when the goal is a contained, stylish beach stay rather than constant movement and nightlife variety.

questions & answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Surin Beach crowded?

Surin is significantly less crowded than Patong, Karon, or Kata. During peak season (December–April) the beach fills on weekends, particularly around the beach clubs. Arriving before 11am ensures a good spot and calmer atmosphere. Surin is one of Phuket's better choices for those who want a beach experience without the mass-market tourist density.

Are there restaurants near Surin Beach?

Yes β€” the beachfront road has several excellent restaurants including Taste, Sugarcane, and Siam Supper Club. The nearby Boat Avenue shopping centre in Cherng Talay (10 minutes' drive) has expanded into a good dining and lifestyle destination. For the most upscale dining, the restaurants within Twin Palms and the surrounding villa hotels are excellent.
