Klong Khong Beach
Koh Lanta's bohemian, backpacker-favourite beach, known for its rustic reggae beach bars, fire shows, and rocky shore that's good for snorkelling at low tide. Less about powdery sand and more about the easygoing, sociable sunset scene.
About
Klong Khong Beach, on the central west coast just south of Long Beach, is Koh Lanta's bohemian heart — the beach most associated with the island's laid-back, hippieish, reggae-bar vibe. Its sand is a little coarser and the shore rockier than the postcard beaches further south, with reef and stones exposed at low tide, so it's prized less for sunbathing and more for its atmosphere: a string of rustic, driftwood-and-bamboo beach bars strung with hammocks, fairy lights, and beanbags, many hosting fire shows and live music after dark. By day the rocky, shallow areas at low tide are actually decent for spotting small marine life while snorkelling, and the west-facing beach is a classic sunset spot, busy with people drifting between bars as the sky turns. It draws a younger, backpacker-leaning crowd and long-stay travellers who come for the easygoing, sociable scene rather than resort polish.
