Dry Season

Visiting Phu Quoc in March

March is arguably the optimal time to visit Phu Quoc. The dry season is fully established, the Gulf of Thailand is calm and clear, and post-Tet foreign visitor numbers have dropped while remaining comfortably busy. Sea temperatures hit 29°C — the warmest of the year — making the water exceptionally inviting. Accommodation prices soften from Tet-peak levels while conditions remain identical. For those who want Phu Quoc's best weather without its busiest atmosphere, March delivers perfectly.

Travel Tips for March

The Phu Quoc National Park (31,422 hectares of old-growth tropical forest) is best explored in March when trails are dry but not yet hot and dusty. Guided treks to the park's interior cost 200,000–350,000 VND.

Cua Can River kayaking through mangrove forest is excellent in March — water levels are good, vegetation is lush from the tail end of the monsoon season, and the north of the island is cooler than the south.

Vinpearl Safari (650,000 VND) operates well in March — dry enough for comfortable safari viewing but not yet mid-year hot. Animals are active in the cooler morning hours.

Is March a good time to visit Phu Quoc?

March is excellent — one of the top three months to visit. The dry season is fully reliable, sea conditions are beautiful, and crowds and prices are lower than January or Tet week. Calm, warm (29°C), and clear. March has some of the best water conditions of the year — the Gulf of Thailand is sheltered and flat, Long Beach has gentle lapping waves ideal for swimming, and Sao Beach (east coast) is tranquil. Snorkelling visibility at the An Thoi Islands is excellent.

How do I get around Phu Quoc?
