December sees Phu Quoc's full peak season return. The dry season is firmly established — Long Beach is glassy calm, the sunset-facing shore delivers spectacular evening colours, and the An Thoi Islands are open for daily snorkelling tours. Christmas brings an influx of European, Russian, and Chinese visitors, and the island has a festive international character quite different from the Vietnamese-domestic Tet peak. New Year's Eve on Long Beach — with fireworks over the Gulf of Thailand — is one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful celebrations. Book everything months in advance.

travel tips
Book the Christmas to New Year window (23 December–3 January) 4–6 months ahead — this is Phu Quoc's absolute peak demand period. Long Beach resort prices reach their annual maximum.
Early December (1–18 December) is a hidden gem — conditions are identical to late December but with 20–30% lower prices and far fewer visitors before the Christmas influx.
The Dinh Cau Night Market on the cape is at its most vibrant in December — grilled scallops, sea snails, and fresh seafood at market prices, with dozens of vendors and a festive atmosphere under clear night skies.
common questions
December has the best conditions — dry, calm, and beautiful Long Beach. However, it's also the most crowded and expensive. For the same weather at lower cost and fewer crowds, November is excellent. December is the right choice for those who want the festive Christmas/New Year atmosphere and don't mind peak prices.
New Year's Eve on Long Beach is spectacular. Fireworks are launched over the Gulf of Thailand from multiple resort beachfronts, the beach is packed with international and Vietnamese revellers, resort restaurants serve special New Year's Eve menus, and the sunset strip of bars counts down to midnight. The beach atmosphere is celebratory, family-friendly, and genuinely beautiful under the starry dry-season sky.
Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) has direct flights from multiple Asian hubs including Ho Chi Minh City (45 min), Hanoi, Singapore, Seoul, and Bangkok. In December, book flights 2–3 months ahead as demand is very high. From Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), there's also a high-speed ferry route from Ha Tien on the mainland (1 hour, 300,000–350,000 VND) if you prefer a scenic coastal approach.
