Phu Quoc sights
An Thoi Islands
An archipelago of small islands off Phu Quoc's south — Hon Thom, Gầm Ghì, May Rút and others — with the island's best snorkelling and diving over coral reefs, reached by boat day-trip or via the Hon Thom cable car.
About
The An Thoi Islands (Quần đảo An Thới) are a scatter of more than a dozen small islands off the southern tip of Phu Quoc, and they hold the area's best snorkelling and diving. A typical 'three- or four-island' boat tour from An Thoi harbour visits the clearer waters and coral reefs around islets such as Hòn Gầm Ghì, Hòn Móng Tay (Fingernail Island), Hòn Mây Rút, and Hòn Thơm, with stops to snorkel over the reefs, swim from powdery beaches, fish, and eat a seafood lunch on board. Visibility and reef life here are generally the best Phu Quoc offers, and the islands' beaches are quieter than the mainland's. Tours run by traditional wooden boat or faster speedboat, usually as a full day; alternatively the Hon Thom cable car carries visitors directly out to the largest island. The dry season (November–April) brings the calmest seas and clearest water for snorkelling.
