Boracay sights

Bulabog Beach

Boracay's adventure beach, on the windward east coast directly across the island from White Beach. From roughly November to April the steady trade winds make it one of Asia's top spots for kitesurfing and windsurfing, with many schools on the sand.

About

Bulabog Beach lies on the eastern, windward side of Boracay, directly across the narrow island from White Beach — a ten-minute walk away but a completely different scene. Where White Beach is calm and sheltered, Bulabog catches the steady northeasterly trade winds (the amihan) that blow from roughly November to April, turning its lagoon, protected by an offshore reef, into one of the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing destinations in Asia. During the windy season the water fills with colourful kites and sails, and a strip of kite schools, board-rental shops, and surf bars lines the sand, offering lessons for beginners and gear for the experienced. Outside the wind season (the calmer habagat months) it reverts to a quieter beach. It is firmly an activity beach rather than a swimming-and-sunbathing one — the water can be choppy and full of riders — but for anyone wanting to learn or watch the sport, it's the island's hub.
