White Beach's famous powder sand is made predominantly from pulverised coral and shell fragments rather than quartz or mineral sand. Bulabog Beach is for kiteboarding, not swimming
Bulabog Beach on Boracay's east coast is shallow, flat, and wind-driven — ideal for kiteboarding but not a conventional swimming beach. The beach itself is narrow and backed by shops and kite schools. The attraction here is the sport and the wind-sport community. If you kitesurf or windsurf, Bulabog is your priority beach. If you just want to swim and sunbathe, stay on White Beach.
Vendors are persistent — it is okay to politely decline
The stretch of White Beach from Station 2 to Station 3 has the highest density of itinerant vendors offering massages, shell jewellery, braid braiding, and activity bookings. They are not aggressive but are persistent — a clear, polite 'no thank you' is sufficient. If you want a beach massage, negotiating directly with vendors for PHP 300–500 per hour gives good value. Restaurant touts outside D'Mall are normal and can be ignored without offence.
Morning is the best time for photos and solitude
White Beach before 8 am is quiet, golden-lit, and genuinely beautiful — a different experience from the busy midday and afternoon beach. The water is calm, the light is low and warm, and the beach vendors and activity boats are not yet operating. Early morning is also the best time for swimming before the wind picks up and the beach fills. Many photographers base their Boracay shoot entirely around the golden hour at sunrise.

The water is deeper and can be rougher than White Beach during the northeast monsoon. Accessible by boat from White Beach or by foot/tricycle via a dirt track across the island's north.
