Best first beach for a family visit?

Tumon Bay — calm, shallow water, white sand, and lined with restaurants and resorts. Gun Beach is quieter with fewer crowds. Both are perfect for kids.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your island trip

When is the best time to visit Guam?

Guam enjoys warm tropical weather year-round, with temperatures typically between 24°C and 31°C (75°F–88°F). The dry season from December through June offers the most sunshine and is ideal for beach activities. The wet season from July through November brings short afternoon rain showers but stays warm and pleasant — hotel rates are often lower, making it a great time to visit on a budget.

Do I need a visa to visit Guam?

Visitors from Japan, South Korea, and many other countries can enter Guam visa-free under the Guam–CNMI Visa Waiver Program for stays up to 45 days. You will need a valid passport, a return or onward ticket, and proof of sufficient funds. US citizens and permanent residents can enter without restrictions. Always check the latest entry requirements with the relevant US Embassy before you travel.

What language is spoken in Guam?

English and Chamorro are Guam's official languages. English is spoken everywhere — at hotels, restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions. In Tumon, the main tourist district, many businesses also have Japanese- and Korean-speaking staff. Some restaurants and shops in popular areas provide Chinese-language menus and assistance as well.

What currency does Guam use?

Guam uses the US Dollar (USD). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and most shops. ATMs are readily available in Tumon and at major shopping centres. If you are travelling from Japan, Korea, or China, plan to exchange currency or withdraw USD on arrival, as most local shops do not accept foreign currency directly.

What is Guam known for?

Guam is renowned for its powder-white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving, and its rich blend of Chamorro, Spanish, and American cultures. Tumon Bay is the main tourist hub, offering world-class hotels, duty-free shopping, and a wide range of restaurants. Beyond the beach, visitors enjoy jungle treks, World War II historical sites, and vibrant local night markets.

How do I get around Guam?

Renting a car is the most practical way to explore Guam, as public transport is limited. Rental agencies operate from Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport and throughout Tumon. Taxis and ride-share services are available but can add up for longer distances. Many hotels offer complimentary shuttle services to major attractions — ask your hotel about options when you check in.
