Budget Hotels in Guam

Affordable guesthouses and hotels — comfortable stays without the resort price tag

By Island Seeker Editorial Team·Updated March 2026

Guam offers more budget accommodation options than most visitors expect. Beyond the luxury resort strip in Tumon, a range of guesthouses, smaller hotels, and mid-tier properties in Tamuning and Dededo offer clean, comfortable stays at a fraction of the beachfront price. Most are within 10–20 minutes of the main beaches and attractions by rental car.

🗓️

Book Off-Peak

Travel in May–June or September–November for the lowest hotel rates — up to 40% cheaper than peak season.

🚗

Location Trade-Off

Budget hotels are often in Tamuning or Dededo rather than Tumon Bay. A rental car makes the distance irrelevant.

🔍

Compare Total Price

Resort fees at larger hotels can add $25–$50/night. Smaller guesthouses rarely charge hidden fees.

🛁

Check Essentials

Verify that budget properties include air conditioning and Wi-Fi — both are expected in Guam's heat and humidity.

questions & answers

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a budget hotel in Guam cost per night?

Budget hotels and guesthouses in Guam typically cost $60–$120 per night. Mid-range options fall in the $120–$200 range. Prices are lowest during the wet season (July–November) and highest during January–March and Japanese summer holidays.

Where are budget hotels located in Guam?

Most budget accommodation in Guam is found in Tamuning, Dededo, and Hagåtña — areas outside the main Tumon tourist strip. These are perfectly convenient with a rental car and often just 10–15 minutes from Tumon Bay beaches.

Are there cheap places to stay near Tumon Beach?

Budget options directly on Tumon Bay are limited — the beachfront strip is dominated by luxury resorts. However, several smaller hotels on the edges of Tumon and in adjacent Tamuning offer reasonable rates within a short drive or taxi of the beach.

Is it safe to stay outside of Tumon in Tamuning or Dededo?

Yes — Guam is a safe island overall, with low rates of crime. Tamuning and Dededo are ordinary residential and commercial areas where many locals live and work. They are perfectly safe for tourists. The main consideration is convenience rather than safety: without a rental car, getting to Tumon's beaches and restaurants is awkward. With a car, the 10–20 minute drive is no inconvenience at all.
