Amed is a string of quiet fishing villages along the northeast coast of Bali, approximately 2.5 hours from the airport. The area has a completely different feel from south Bali — slower, less developed, and genuinely local. Amed's black-sand beaches are not swimming beaches in the conventional sense but are beautiful and uncrowded. The accommodation is primarily small, locally owned dive guesthouses and bungalows. Amed is a favourite of divers, free divers, and those seeking quiet, authentic Bali.
