Sunset at Seminyak Beach is a social event
Seminyak's famous beach clubs — Potato Head, Ku De Ta (now Kudeta), Finns, and a dozen competitors — line the beach strip between Seminyak and Cerobokan. Sunset on the west-facing beach (which faces the Indian Ocean directly) is dramatic, and the beach clubs turn into the first act of Seminyak's nightlife. Arrive by 5:30 pm to secure a sunbed. Most beach clubs have a minimum spend requirement for sunbed use.
The hidden Bukit beaches require steep descents
The most beautiful beaches on the Bukit Peninsula — Padang Padang, Bingin, Balangan, Green Bowl, Thomas Beach — sit below 30–50-metre limestone cliffs and require descents of 100–300 steep steps to reach. Most are not accessible by vehicle — park above and walk down. The descent is manageable for most fit adults, but the return climb in midday heat can be challenging.
