Koh Lanta sights
Mu Ko Lanta National Park
The protected southern tip of the island, crowned by the white Koh Lanta lighthouse on its clifftop. A short trail and a nature loop give sweeping sea views, a small beach, and resident long-tailed macaques among the headland forest.
About
Mu Ko Lanta National Park occupies the southern tip of Koh Lanta Yai and is the scenic climax of a drive down the island. Its most photographed feature is the small white lighthouse standing on a grassy clifftop headland, reached by a short walk up from the car park, with sweeping views out over the Andaman Sea and the bays curving away on either side — a superb spot for photos and sunset. The park also takes in a small, quiet beach, a campground and visitor facilities, and a nature trail that loops through the coastal forest, where troops of long-tailed macaques are commonly seen (keep your bags closed and don't feed them). It's a protected area with an entrance fee, and the combination of lighthouse, viewpoint, beach, and easy jungle walk makes it the natural turnaround point and highlight of exploring southern Koh Lanta. Mornings and late afternoons are coolest and best for the walk.
