Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as your name and email address when you create an account, submit a business listing, send us a message through the contact form, or send an inquiry from a business page.
We also collect usage data automatically — including pages visited, search queries, questions asked in the AI chat, and business detail views — to understand how our directory is used and improve our service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve Island Seeker
- Personalize recommendations and search results
- Process and manage business listing submissions
- Send transactional emails (e.g., account verification)
- Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
3. Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember language preferences. Our traffic analytics (Umami, self-hosted) does not use cookies and is not loaded for visitors that look like automated software.
Some pages show ads from Google AdSense. Advertising and analytics storage is denied by default, so Google is told not to store advertising cookies or identifiers until you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Your choice is saved in your browser (local storage), and you can change it by clearing this site’s data. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function properly without them.
4. Third-Party Services
Island Seeker uses the following third-party services that may process your data under their own privacy policies:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (supabase.com/privacy)
- Cloudflare — content delivery, security filtering and the Turnstile bot check on sign-in and forms. The site itself runs on our own server (managed with Coolify) behind Cloudflare.
- Google — AdSense ads (see Cookies & Tracking above) and the optional “Continue with Google” sign-in
- Booking.com — a hotel-search affiliate widget on the home page and some business pages; loading it shares your IP address and browser details with Booking.com, which may set its own cookies
- Unsplash — some photos are loaded directly from Unsplash’s image servers
- OpenRouter / OpenAI — AI chat assistant; your question is sent to them to generate the answer
- Resend — sends our emails, such as business inquiries and listing claim updates
- Sentry — error reports from the site, which can include the page address and your browser details
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. An inquiry you send from a business page, with your name and email, goes to that business, or to us if it has no email on file. Otherwise we share data only when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Island Seeker and its users.
6. Data Retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Analytics events are retained for up to 24 months. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us at guamdiscover@gmail.com.
8. Children's Privacy
Island Seeker is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at guamdiscover@gmail.com.
