Temple of Leah
A grand Roman-inspired temple of columns and statuary built in the Busay hills as a monument of one man's love for his late wife, offering sweeping views over Cebu City. A modern landmark and hugely popular photo spot.
About
The Temple of Leah is one of Cebu's most striking modern landmarks — a grand, Greco-Roman-style temple of columns, grand staircases, lions, and statuary rising from the hills of Busay above Cebu City. It was built by businessman Teodorico Adarna as a monument to his wife of 53 years, Leah Villa Albino-Adarna, after her death in 2012, and is sometimes called Cebu's 'Taj Mahal' for that reason. At its heart stands a towering bronze statue of Leah, flanked by galleries that were intended to display her belongings and collections. While it is a recent, somewhat theatrical attraction rather than an ancient ruin, its dramatic architecture and the panoramic view over the city and sea below have made it enormously popular for photos — and an easy add-on to a trip up into the cool Busay highlands, often combined with the Sirao flower garden and mountain restaurants nearby.
