Inarajan Natural Pools

Saltwater pools formed in the volcanic rock on the southeastern coast at Inarajan (Inalåhan), sheltered from the open sea and calm enough for swimming and floating. A free, scenic local swimming hole with old diving platforms.

About

The Inarajan Natural Pools (Salaglula Pools) are a beloved local swimming spot on the rugged southeastern coast of Guam, in the historic village of Inarajan (Inalåhan). Here, jagged volcanic rock formations along the shoreline enclose a series of natural saltwater pools, shielding them from the power of the open ocean so that the water inside stays relatively calm and clear — a safe, scenic place to swim, float, and cool off while the surf crashes against the rocks just beyond. A concrete diving platform and old stone steps, built decades ago, add to the rustic, time-worn charm, and the pools have long been a gathering place for island families on weekends. It is free to visit, though the rocks can be sharp and slippery and conditions vary with the tide and weather, so reef shoes and caution help. The pools pair naturally with a wider tour of Guam's southern villages, including nearby Gef Pa'go cultural village.
