Guam Airport Guide

All arriving passengers pass through US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) immigration — Guam is a US territory, so entry follows the same CBP process as entering the US mainland. Non-US citizens will go through immigration inspection; citizens of countries covered by Guam's Visa Waiver Program (Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and 40+ others) can enter for up to 45 days without a US visa.

After immigration, bags are collected from baggage claim on the ground level. Passengers then proceed through Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency inspection. Agricultural declarations are required — do not bring fresh fruit, vegetables, or plants into Guam without declaration. Honolulu-origin flights are directed to a separate arrivals corridor.

The arrivals hall is compact and easy to navigate. Ground transport options are immediately outside the West Arrival wing. The entire arrivals process — immigration, baggage, customs — typically takes 30–60 minutes for international flights, and can take up to 90 minutes during peak season (January–March) when multiple flights arrive simultaneously.

Taxi: The official airport taxi service is Miki Taxi. The taxi counter is located outside the West Arrival wing. Fares to Tumon hotels typically run USD 15–25. Confirm the fare before departing — meters are standard. Taxis are available 24 hours.

Hotel shuttle: Most major resort hotels in Tumon offer complimentary airport transfers for guests. Confirm this with your hotel when booking — it is not always automatically arranged. Hotel shuttle representatives typically wait in the arrivals hall with name signs near the exit.

Rental car: All major car rental companies (Budget, Dollar, Thrifty, Alamo, and local operators) have desks in the arrivals area or offer shuttle transfers to nearby rental lots. A rental car is highly recommended for exploring beyond Tumon. See our car rental guide for details.

Public bus: Guam Mass Transit Authority (GMTA) operates nine bus routes connecting the airport with the island's villages and towns, running at least hourly except Sundays and public holidays. Buses are very affordable but slow and may require transfers to reach Tumon — not the most practical option for first-time visitors with luggage.

Antonio B. Won Pat Airport is a mid-size international terminal with all essential facilities. The departures level has a food court offering American, Japanese, and international options — useful for early morning departures or late check-in waits. Duty-free shopping is available in the departures area.

Currency exchange counters and ATMs are available in both arrivals and departures areas. US dollars are accepted everywhere in Guam; exchanging currency on arrival is possible but not necessary if you have a card with low foreign transaction fees.

Free WiFi is available throughout the terminal. SIM cards from IT&E and Docomo Pacific are available from vending machines and kiosks in the arrivals hall — purchasing here is convenient but may be slightly pricier than buying at stores in town.

Allow at least 2.5–3 hours before your departure flight. Security and check-in at Guam airport can take longer than expected during peak season (January–March) when multiple outbound flights depart in close succession. Duty-free purchases made in Guam shops (T Galleria, airport stores) can be carried in your hand luggage when departing — check your home country's customs allowances before purchasing. Japanese visitors are allowed up to ¥200,000 in duty-free goods per person.
