About
Hidden in Mengwi village, Taman Ayun Temple sits just west of Denpasar with a rich royal history. Built in 1634 by King I Gusti Agung Putu as a royal ancestral temple, it features beautiful gardens and fish ponds that earned its name — 'temple in a beautiful garden'. Originally established to seek blessings for the kingdom's safety and fertility, the temple hosts an annual ceremony on Kliwon Tuesday. Its historical significance led UNESCO to consider it for World Heritage status. Located strategically near Tanah Lot, the temple offers visitors a glimpse into Balinese cultural heritage.
