business.about
Tucked in Bedulu village near Ubud, Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) is a mysterious 9th-century Hindu temple that's not about elephants at all. The cave entrance looks like a monster's gaping mouth, carved with menacing faces meant to ward off evil spirits. Inside, a narrow T-shaped tunnel leads 15 meters deep, with small meditation niches and lingam symbols. A sacred fountain with six angel statues sits nearby. Visitors pay 50,000 rupiah to explore this intriguing site where Hindu and Buddhist imagery blend. Open daily from 8am to 5pm, with a full moon ceremony in September or October.
