Jimbaran, Bali

Seafood beach dinners, Four Seasons sunsets, and a quieter south Bali bay

Jimbaran sits just south of the airport along a wide, sheltered bay with calm water and a working fishing village at its heart. It is most famous for its 'seafood warungs' — dozens of open-air restaurants on the sand where you select fresh seafood from the morning catch (lobster, tiger prawn, fish, squid) and have it grilled over coconut husks while the sun sets over the Indian Ocean. The experience at Jimbaran Bay is one of Bali's most quintessential dining moments. The bay is also home to some of Bali's most acclaimed luxury hotels, including the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay — consistently rated among the top five hotels in Asia — and the InterContinental Bali Resort. The beach itself is significantly calmer and less crowded than Kuta or Seminyak.

  • Jimbaran Bay seafood warungs — the definitive Bali seafood-on-the-beach sunset dinner
  • Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay — one of Asia's most awarded luxury resort experiences
  • Pura Ulun Siwi temple — ancient sea temple at the fishing village end of the bay

Know Before You Base Yourself in Jimbaran

Why Jimbaran is underrated

Jimbaran is one of Bali's most practical south-coast bases because it combines airport convenience, calmer water, and high-end hotels without the constant pace of Seminyak. It suits couples and families well.

What to prioritize here

Build the stay around sunset seafood dinners, a calmer beach rhythm, and easy access to Uluwatu. If nightlife or boutique shopping is the main priority, stay elsewhere and visit Jimbaran for dinner instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which seafood restaurant is best in Jimbaran?

The three main clusters are Muaya Beach (most popular, busiest), Kedonganan (the original fishing village end, more local-oriented), and Kelan (quieter). Quality varies — all catch is fresh but cooking varies by warung. Consistently well-reviewed options include Made Bagus Café, Lia Café, and Rock Bar at AYANA for a more premium experience. Agree on prices before ordering — lobster and large fish are priced per 100g and bills can exceed expectations.
