Sekumpul Waterfall
Widely called Bali's most beautiful waterfall — a cluster of narrow cascades dropping up to 80 metres into a jungle valley in the island's north. Reaching the base is a steep but rewarding hike of around 45 minutes each way.
About
Tucked into the jungle of the Buleleng regency in Bali's quieter north, Sekumpul is widely judged the island's most beautiful waterfall — not a single drop but a fan of around seven narrow cascades that plunge as much as 80 metres into a green gorge. Reaching it is part of the experience: from the car park it is a steep descent of hundreds of steps and dirt paths, often crossing a small river, taking around 45 minutes down (and rather more, with effort, back up). The payoff is standing in the spray at the base of the falls, with the option of a cold swim in the pools. Because of its distance — roughly two hours' drive from Ubud or Seminyak — Sekumpul is best treated as a half- or full-day trip, often combined with nearby temples or hot springs. A local guide-and-entry fee system operates at the village; going with a guide is effectively required and helps on the slippery descent.
