Campuhan Ridge Walk
An easy, scenic walking trail along a grassy ridge between two rivers on the edge of Ubud, with open valley views. Best at sunrise or late afternoon to avoid the heat — free and open to all.
About
The Campuhan Ridge Walk is Ubud's favourite stroll — a gentle, free, and genuinely lovely escape from the town's traffic, beginning beside the Gunung Lebah temple where two rivers meet (campuhan means 'confluence'). A paved path climbs onto a narrow grassy ridge that runs for a couple of kilometres between two river valleys, opening up to wide views of jungle-clad hills, palm groves, and tall savannah grass that glows in low light. Unlike Bali's more strenuous treks, it is flat and easy enough for almost anyone, taking around an hour each way at an unhurried pace. The trick is timing: go at sunrise or in the last hour before sunset, both for the soft light and to avoid the fierce midday heat, since there is little shade. The far end leads on toward cafés, warungs, and artists' studios in the village of Bangkiang Sidem, making a natural turnaround or coffee stop before walking back.
